Wellness Tips for Fall and Winter

Updated: Nov 26, 2024

We are full swing Autumn here in the northern hemisphere. Today it is quite chilly and you can really feel Winter heading our way. I wanted to share some wellness tips with you all as we head into the colder months.

  1. Keep warm through soups, broths, and herbal teas. Drinking something warm can help keep the body warm and aid in our digestion. This is also an excellent way to get important vitamins, minerals, and nutrients to support the body through the colder months.

  2. Keep up your mental health practices like yoga, meditation, and one to one therapeutic sessions. The winter months can be filled with joy, but also can be a difficult time of year for many people for many reasons. Whether it's relational, financial, or seasonal depression it can be a challenging time of year that makes keeping up with your self-care practices even more important than usual. If you are seeing a therapist, coach, or healer it's recommended to have at least 2 sessions per month or more depending on your needs, goals, and economic status. Yoga and meditation can be helpful every day - it doesn't have to be an hour class (although that's awesome), even 10 min in the morning or evening can make a big difference. You can find several free yoga and meditation exercises on Youtube, Apps like Calm, even Spotify. There are many channels that offer healing resources. You can check mine out here!

  1. Make sure to get outdoors when weather allows. Getting outside to breathe fresh air, walk in nature, and hopefully get some sunshine does wonders for your health. Their are numerous studies that point to people living longer and benefitting health wise from walks in nature, being around plants, and sunshine. If it's cold don't forget to bundle up so your nice and warm!

  1. Get creative! Often times we spend more time indoors during the Fall and Winter which can be an excellent time for reflection and also creativity. Practices like writing, painting, dance/movement, and music can be amazing ways to express emotions, have fun creatively, and can have a healing impact. Also a great time to learn a new skill!

  1. Go easy on yourself and practice self-compassion. No matter how you show up, celebrate,

or don't celebrate the holidays make sure to be easy on yourself. Release expectations of how you should be and instead listen deeply to what would be a meaningful experience for you this holiday season and winter. Get clear on how you can nourish yourself and be present while navigating this season.

Sending so much love and if you need more support feel free to reach out for a consultation or one to one session. Take care all!
