Springtime is the best time of year for a cleanse. The temperatures are becoming warmer and more mild, the earth is beginning to awake with lots of fresh green, and the body can begin to let go of any winter stores of excess.
While there are some cleanses that involve strict diets or fasting, that is not the type of cleansing I will be talking about today. The springtime cleansing in this article is mild and gradual in order to help your body adjust, feel better and lighter moving into the warmer seasons.
Here are some tips to help you cleanse in the spring ~
Drink lots of purified, spring, or mineral water. This will help the body to stay hydrated and detox which helps all the body systems to work more smoothly. You also need to start preparing to hydrate more regularly as the summer draws nearer.
Eat lots of green and bright colored foods either raw or lightly cooked depending on what works best for your digestion. This can be things like lettuces, citrus fruits, berries, microgreens, fresh herbs, and cruciferous vegetables like broccoli, kale, collard greens, and chard.
If you eat meat and dairy limit the consumption in order to give your digestive system a chance to reset. This doesn't mean strictly avoid just less than what you would usually eat.
Add in probiotic foods like kraut and yogurt. This will help boost the beneficial bacteria in your digestive system and help you to have all around better and easier digestion, as well as, boosted immunity and even improved mood.
Move your body in a way that feels good and empowering. This could be walking, running, dancing, yoga, rock climbing, or any other way that helps you to get your energy moving. This will aid in detoxification processes and also help you to feel overall lighter, stronger, and better!
Start getting more sunlight but remember to use SPF. This will help replenish your vitamin D stores if they have dropped during winter and also help you to feel more relaxed and uplifted as you transition into the warmer months.
Springtime blessings to all and enjoy the season :)
